Based in Germany, Ebrahim Makunja also commonly known as Kamanda Ras Makunja (FFU),aka Field-Mashall of FFU, a.k.a King of Anunnaki Aliens, former Dar City Rude boy Born in Dar-es-salaam, Tanzania. Son of Moza Hassan, his father Jumanne Saleh Makunja was government servant.
Ras Makunja is a brilliant Entertainer, Vocalist, Songwriter, Percussionist, Dancer and Social commentator. In 1993 he found the most famous “Ngoma Africa Band” aka FFU, based in Germany.
Ras Makunja did a lot of East African music. He is successful in combining and mixing traditional Music from Tanzania with modern music in which he found a version that turns his audience crazy.
Nationally and internationally, he became a guru in his career.
He started his music career in the early ages while attending school and at a theatre groups while in Dar-es-salaam.
In 1975 he was selected to join TANU YOUTH LEAGUE Dancing and Theater at Kinondoni (Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania). There, he met Michael Pangalala the leader and guitarist of the TONIC’s BAND. Pangalala coached him and predicted that Ras Makunja will one day become a star.
It wasn’t easy for Ras Makunja to go forward with music because of school. His parents wanted him to finish school first. It was a tough challenge but, it did not stop him pursuing his dream career in music.
In 1980s, he joined Butiama Jazz Band which was based in Dar es Salaam, owned by Mr. Mustapha Mkwega. He then met and worked with Jah Kimbute Mleteni at Roots & Culture Band, at same time he did his own research by travelling to various places in Tanzania and abroad, researching traditional music.
Kamanda Ras Makunja, is known to be tough, rules the stage, very diplomatic, sometimes militant musician, full of self confidence. He likes to share platform with band members and fans, always ready to face international challenges.
